Two-time Olympic hockey champion Alexander Kozhevnikov criticized the actions of the Russian youth team players after the match with the Belarusian youth team at the Future Cup tournament in Minsk. He shared his opinion with him vprognoze.ru.
“You should respect yourself. With this action, the men showed that, first of all, they did not respect themselves. And the coaches set their players up wrong. Mentors are there for the team and need to extinguish such emotions. They should have told the players that this is how it is, but you need to treat your opponents and yourself normally,” said Kozhevnikov.
In the final of the tournament on February 10, the Russian team lost to the Belarusians 5:6. Players of the Russian national team were unhappy with the refereeing.
At the award ceremony, the captain of the Russian team, Yegor Surin, left the second prize on the ice, while goalkeeper Pyotr Andreyanov and forward Vadim Dudorov gave awards to the best players of the tournament in their roles.
