Osteopathic doctor, reflexologist, rehabilitation specialist Vladislav Vorobyovsky said that 38-year-old Alexander Ovechkin, Russian hockey player, captain of the NHL club Washington Capitals, had a less productive season than the previous one. In his comments to socialbites.ca, the expert explained what makes Ovechkin unique and added that every athlete has a talent ceiling.
“He has excellent genetics and his coach chooses a competent approach to training. But still, sooner or later, there comes a time when an athlete reaches a certain ceiling and has to bow to the new generation of champions,” the doctor thinks.
Evgeniya Murashkina, a physiotherapist at Meditsina JSC, also supported Vorobievsky’s words, noting that athletes who are under the supervision of a coach and sports doctor receive timely qualified assistance, which plays one of the decisive roles in their careers.
“After sprains, fractures and dislocations, athletes are given rehabilitation courses: physiotherapy, physical therapy. Even seemingly minor injuries and discomforts cannot be ignored. The sooner rehabilitation treatment begins, the better,” Murashkina concluded.
Ovechkin scored 12 goals in 47 games this season. He scored 42 goals in 73 matches last season.
