A disagreement broke out between Abaskal and Amaral in Spartak

Spartak Moscow’s head coach Guillermo Abascal does not want to transfer a defensive midfielder to the team, and the club’s new sporting director Tomas Amaral insists on this. This was reported by metaratings.ru.

According to the publication, Abascal looks at red-white football differently and states that there is no room for an assistant midfielder in the current setup. Amaral tries to convince the coach otherwise.

Abaskal took over as head of Spartak before the start of the 2022/23 season. He extended his contract with the team with a salary increase as the season progressed. Last season, under his leadership, the red-whites came third in the Russian Championship.

Amaral started working at the Moscow club on January 1, 2024.

Spartak, which lasted 18 weeks in the Russian Premier League (RPL), ranked fifth by collecting 30 points. The difference with leader Krasnodar is eight points.
