Spartak Chairman Alexander Matytsyn spoke about the future of team captain Georgy Dzhikia. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“Will Jikia stay in the team? Definitely! Do you have questions? The representative said no, what if Abascal stays? So this needs to be discussed…” said Matytsyn.
Dzhikia has been playing for Spartak since 2017. With the club he won the championship and the Russian Cup. The defender has only played in six of a possible 17 matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season. His contract with his club expires in June 2024. At the end of 2023, the player’s agent confirmed that Lokomotiv were interested in the defender.
