The Ivory Coast national football team defeated the Democratic Republic of the Congo national team in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations held in the homeland of the Ivory Coast.
The meeting ended with a score of 1:0. Sebastian Allaire scored the only goal.
In the main match of the tournament, which will be held on February 11, Ivory Coast will face Nigeria, which defeated South Africa, in the semi-final match. Regular time and extra time ended with a score of 1:1. Nigerians were stronger in the penalty shootout (4:2).
The losers of the semi-finals will face each other in the third place match on February 10.
Currently the tournament’s top scorer is Emilio Nsue of Equatorial Guinea (five goals). Angola’s Jacinto Dala and Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed scored four goals each.
The current champion of the African Cup of Nations is Senegal. The team, which defeated Egypt in the penalty shoot-out in the last final, managed to win this cup for the first time in its history.
