Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko admitted that he underwent back surgery at the beginning of the year. His words are quoted “Match TV”.
“I had surgery a week ago. The third operation is on the lower part. Let’s remember the back again.
All implants were removed here, in Moscow, by the unique surgeon Dmitry Nikolaevich Dzukaev. He had me back on my feet three hours after surgery. Restoration work is currently ongoing.
I was not at the opening of the Olympic Games because I was competing in the team tournament. We opened the games, I spoke first. It was necessary to build a team,” said Plushenko.
Evgeni Plushenko announced his retirement in March 2017. He is a two-time Olympic champion and two-time silver medalist. Among all singles and singles figure skaters, no one has more awards than Plushenko. He became the champion of Russia ten times, although none of his compatriots have yet broken this record.
Plushenko started coaching in 2017 and opened his own academy.
Previously became famous Winner of the Russian championship among juniors in figure skating.
