The friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Serbia will not help the country’s return to international tournaments, the former football player of Moscow CSKA and Spartak Valery Masalitin said in an interview with socialbites.ca.

According to him, UEFA’s attitude towards Russia has improved recently.

“It’s good that Serbia agreed to play with us; you can notice some warming about UEFA allowing these meetings to take place. But it’s too early to talk about a full return. It would be good if they could organize a return meeting in Serbia “As long as they give you the opportunity to play, you should take advantage of it. We need to come out with the strongest squad and show our best football, show everyone that the team is alive, has a core, has young players. Of course, it is advisable to produce a good result and please everyone,” he said.

On March 21, 2024, Russia will play against the Serbian national team in Moscow. The match will be played at VTB Arena Stadium.

In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. Since then, Russian teams have played only friendly matches.

In 2023, the Russian national team played six friendly matches and won three against Iraq (2:0), Cameroon (1:0) and Cuba (8:0).

Previously captain of Spartak offered look for another team.
