USSR Honored Coach Tatyana Tarasova considers the disqualification of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva to be too severe a punishment for the athlete. He shared his opinion with him “RB Sports”.
“Fate is very cruel to Valieva. All the horror deprives us of a magnificent, elite athlete and Kamila deprives herself of her favorite job. Tragedy!” – said Tarasova.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules due to the presence of a banned substance in her blood. The penalty period will be notified starting from December 2021.
This did not prevent the athlete from competing at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he won the gold medal in the team tournament. On January 30, the International Skating Union (ISU) reviewed the results of the competition and awarded the Russians third place. Gold went to the US team and silver went to the Japanese team.
