Honored tennis coach of Russia Anatoly Abashkin said in an interview with socialbites.ca that Andrei Rublev did not lose psychological confidence after losing in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open (2024) to Jannik Sinner, who placed tenth in Grand Slam tournaments.

According to him, each of the ten lesions is unique and no pattern can be identified.

“I think this has nothing to do with psychology and no statistical data affects anything. Every Grand Slam quarter-final involves players with the utmost sportsmanship, and there’s no such thing as anyone having to get through this stage every time. Each match is a separate story that is in no way connected with the previous ones. Rublev fought against Sinner, he did everything he could, he is an unusually strong-willed player, he has overcome many difficult matches throughout his career, that is how it works,” said Abashkin.

Rublev lost his tenth Grand Slam quarter-final in ten matches and his third at the Australian Open. Additionally, the 26-year-old Russian lost twice in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, once at Wimbledon and four times at the US Open.

Rublev is ranked fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings and Sinner is ranked fourth.

Previously Anatoly Abashkin named The name of the new world tennis star.
