Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) President Aleksander Čeferin said that he did not see a problem in holding a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Serbia. His words guide the way Guard.

“This [запрет на проведение матча] is not within our jurisdiction (the organization of friendly matches of national teams is under the jurisdiction of FIFA. – socialbites.ca). The Serbian national team can also play against you, me and others in this room. Legally we can’t do anything. Why is this such a problem? Why is it a problem for young people to go play football?

Nobody cares about this match: if you English didn’t talk about it, nobody would know. We in Slovenia don’t even know what they are playing because people don’t care about what British politicians and mainstream media often point out,” Ceferin said.

In the spring of 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team, as well as all Russian clubs, in all competitions controlled by these organizations. In 2023, Valery Karpin’s team did not hold a single meeting with European teams.

The match against the Serbian national team is scheduled to be played in Moscow in March 2024 at the capital’s Dynamo stadium. The last match of the teams took place in the UEFA Nations League Group B group stage under the management of Stanislav Cherchesov and resulted in a 5:0 victory for the Serbians.

Previously Čeferin statedHe said he never received pressure from Russia.
