Russian figure skater Anastasia Mishina, who skates in pairs with Alexander Gallyamov, shared her thoughts on the financial motivation of athletes and noted that this can sometimes have a negative impact on athletes. His words lead the way RT.

“It’s as if the meaning of achieving more, of being better, has been lost. You mentioned the expectation of failure written on your forehead, but it seems to me that the same goes for medals and cash prizes: as soon as you start thinking about them, you immediately lose them,” Mishina said.

The couple won gold medals with the Russian team at the World Championships, European Championships and 2022 Olympic gold medals. They took first place at the last Russian Championship in 2024.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. For this reason, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended athletes from both countries from competitions. The last major tournament for the Russians was the Olympic Games in Beijing in February 2022.
