Spartak lost to Ak Bars with six goals

In the regular championship match of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Kazan’s Ak Bars defeated Moscow’s Spartak team 4:3 in the penalty shootout.

The first period of the match ended in equality. Kazan responded to Maxim Tsyplakov’s double with goals from Dmitry Kagarlitsky and Artem Lukoyanov.

The teams could not score in the second period, but the Kazan team took the lead in the last twenty minutes. Ilya Safonov distinguished himself. Towards the end of the match, Ilya Kovalchuk scored his fourth goal of the season, sending the match into overtime.

In extra time, the teams could not determine the strongest team, and Vadim Shipachev brought victory to Ak Bars in the penalty shootout.

Spartak, which collected 70 points after 55 matches, continues to rank fourth in the Western Conference. Lokomotiv is the leader (76 points). Ak Bars is in sixth place in the East region (64 points).

The current winner of the Gagarin Cup is CSKA. On the 100th anniversary of its establishment on April 29, our Ordu team won the seventh match of the final series against Kazan Ak Bars and won the cup.
