Russian clubs and national teams will be allowed to participate in international tournaments from next season, which will start in autumn 2024. The publication reports that “Euro-Football.Ru” citing a source in the Russian Football Union (RFU).
The publication notes that the admission conditions of Russian clubs and national teams are unknown. It is possible for home matches to be played on neutral grounds.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. Thus, the men’s national team led by Valery Karpin lost the opportunity to fight for a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in December. The team also did not participate in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.
From spring 2022, Russian clubs and the national team will only play friendly matches against foreign opponents.
