Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov spoke about the reinstatement of Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“Is Kostomarov an example? Definitely! This is an example of absolute will! Now he is an important example for many men!” said Peskov.
Kostomarov is the 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing together with Tatyana Navka. He also won gold medals at the World Championships twice and the European Championships three times.
In 2007, Kostomarov was awarded the Order of Friendship for his great contribution to the development of physical culture and sports and high sporting achievements.
At the beginning of January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was reported that he was in intensive care due to pneumonia and was connected to a ventilator, and his condition was evaluated to be extremely serious. He later received treatment at Kommunarka. Parts of his arms and legs were amputated.
