Former Rostov midfielder Gelor Kanga is accused of forging documents and falsifying his age. This was reported by Zambia Observer. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) launched an investigation against the player.
According to documents, the football player was born in 1990. However, it was later revealed that his mother died in 1985, which led to the footballer’s age being questioned. The Congolese federation believes the player forged his identity when transferring to Gabon’s second division club GBI.
If Kang is found guilty of tampering, the Gabon national team for which he plays could be banned from the Africa Cup of Nations for the next two tournaments. The result of the 2022 tournament may also be canceled.
Kanga played for Rostov from 2013 to 2016. The midfielder played 70 matches for the team. He currently plays for Red Star in Serbia. Kanga played in 17 matches this season, scoring 3 goals and making 6 assists.
