The International Football Federation (FIFA) punished former Ajax and Dutch football player Marc Overmars for sending inappropriate photos to women. This was reported by NRC.
The manager was suspended from all football activities. The statement said, “At the request of the Royal Dutch Football Association, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed worldwide sanctions on Overmars.”
The 50-year-old Dutchman will have to leave his post as sporting director of Belgian club Antwerp.
Overmars resigned as sporting director of Ajax at the beginning of 2022. The reason was that he sent pictures of his genitals to club employees without their consent. He was suspended from football activities in the Netherlands in November 2023.
Overmars played for Ajax from 1992 to 1997. In addition to the Amsterdam club, he also played for London Arsenal and Barcelona. The Dutch player also won bronze medals twice at the European Championships (2000, 2004) as a member of the national team.
