Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain football club, expressed his regret over the statements of Argentinian striker Lionel Messi towards the French team after his transfer to American Inter Miami. His words are quoted RMC Sports.
“I have great respect for him, but if someone talks badly about PSG, it’s not a good thing, it’s not something you can call respect. He’s not a bad person, but I don’t like it. I want everyone to talk about the club when they become a player. Not after they leave… That’s not our style.
Messi is the best player in history. It was not easy for him to come here after staying in Barcelona for many years. Everything was done for him there. Kylian (Mbappe) plays here and there were other players like Neymar,” said the club president.
At the end of last season, Messi left PSG and signed a contract with the MLS team. In June, the 36-year-old striker said that the two years he spent in the Paris team were difficult for him.
Messi was transferred to Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. On August 20, the Argentinian won the League Cup, the first trophy in America. After 14 matches for Inter Miami, Messi scored 11 goals and 5 assists. MLS is currently on pause before the season starts.
Messi became world champion with Argentina in December 2022. This is the first trophy of this kind in the career of a star football player. In the tournament, the striker scored seven goals in seven matches, four of which came from penalties.
He was in the USA before because of Messi affected match with another stadium.
