The group stage of the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship ended in Sweden.
In the final match of the group stage, the Canadian team defeated the German national team with a score of 6:3.
Quarter-final pairs were formed according to the results of the group tournament. Sweden and Switzerland, the USA and Latvia, Canada and the Czech Republic, as well as Slovakia and Finland, will also compete for the right to play in the semi-finals.
The Norwegian and German national teams, which are in last place in their lower groups, will compete for the right to retain their place in the combined league next year.
In the spring of 2022, the IIHF decided to prevent Russian hockey players from participating in international tournaments, even with neutral status, and the organization also stripped Russia of the right to host the youth world championship at home in 2023.
