At the beginning of January 2023, the skater was hospitalized. He was in intensive care with pneumonia and was put on a ventilator. The athlete was transported to a hospital in Kommunarka, resuscitated and connected to an artificial blood oxygen saturation device (ECMO), after which he remained on a ventilator for a long time. Parts of his arms and legs were amputated.
On December 17, Kostomarov went out on the ice on skates, participating in Ilya Averbukh’s show “Together and Forever”.
