Ilia Topuria, the undefeated fighter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), challenged Irish Conor McGregor on social networks.
“Topuria vs. McGregor in UFC Spain,” Topuria wrote.
Topuria made his UFC debut in 2020 and has been competing in mixed martial arts since 2015. The fighter has 14 victories in 14 fights. Topuria’s last fight was against Josh Emmett on June 24, 2023. The fight lasted for five rounds and ended with Topuria winning by unanimous decision.
34-year-old McGregor’s last fight was against American Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The meeting ended in the first round, as a result of which the Irishman suffered a broken leg.
At the end of October 2022, it was reported that McGregor could return to the Octagon no later than six months later. An athlete must be drug tested for six months and submit two negative tests before being allowed to compete.
McGregor is a former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.
