Olympic champion compares life in New York and Moscow

Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina evaluated the standard of living in Moscow and New York. His words were quoted Sports24.

“Life in the USA is completely different from Russia. But Moscow is now a much better place to live than New York. We develop programs to enhance and improve the quality of life in our cities. The results of these programs are already visible. Moscow has always been architecturally beautiful and much more interesting than New York. “If you choose between Moscow and New York, you choose Moscow,” Rodnina said.

Rodnina won the Olympic Games in pair skating three times (1972, 1976 and 1980). He won his first medal with Alexey Ulanov, and his second and third with Alexander Zaitsev. The pair also won world championship gold medals six times; skaters climbed to the highest step of the podium from 1973 to 1978. Rodnina and Zaitsev won the European championship seven times (1973-1978, 1980).

Rodnina and Zaitsev were together from 1975 to 1985. In their marriage, they had a son named Alexander. Later, the skater married a second time.
