Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, discussing the continuation of her career, said that she just wants to continue doing what she loves, to which she devoted her life. His words were quoted by RIA Novosti.
“There’s probably something inside me, maybe some kind of core that I’m not aware of. Of course, there was a moment when one gave up. But then my love for my job, the support of my coaches, family and friends helped. This is especially helpful when they don’t turn away from you at a difficult moment,” Valieva said.
In the championship, Valieva took third place. In the free program, a figure skater fell out of a quad sheepskin coat. Another student of Tutberidze, Adelia Petrosyan, won the tournament. Second place was taken by Sofia Muravyova (student of Evgeni Plushenko). After the short program, Valieva took the lead, almost three points ahead of Petrosyan.
In the 2023/24 season, Valieva took first place at the Russian Grand Prix stage in Moscow and fourth at the Kazan stage.
Valieva became the 2022 European champion and the 2022 Olympic champion in the team tournament. She was also involved in a doping scandal after it was learned that her sample tested positive for a banned drug during the Beijing Olympics.
