Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) General Manager Alexander Kogan announced the amount of prize money to be given to athletes in the Russian Championship. His words are quoted RIA News.
“We gave the full prize money to all athletes so that there would be enough motivation. I think this is bigger in our sport than in others. For the first place – 2.5 million rubles, for the second – one and a half, for the third – one million. Kogan said that the prize money of the Russian Grand Prix was also preserved and this situation would continue in the second half of the season.
The Russian Figure Skating Championships will be held in Chelyabinsk between 20-24 December.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. For this reason, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended athletes from both countries from competitions. The last major tournament for the Russians was the Olympic Games in Beijing in February 2022.
