Potapova is the winner of five WTA tournaments (two in singles). In 2016, the Russian woman won the junior Grand Slam singles tournament. She was the world number one in the ITF junior rankings.
Potapova ranks 28th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings with 1588 points. The best of the Russians is Lyudmila Samsonova, 16th place (2650 points). Polish representative Iga Swiatek continues to lead with 9295 points. She was followed by Belarusian Arina Sabalenka (9050 points). US representative Cori Gauff ranks third with 6580 points.
Potapova became the wife of former Russian tennis player Alexander Shevchenko in the winter of 2023. She currently represents the Kazakhstan national team. The couple have known each other since they were nine years old.
