New York Rangers’ Russian forward Artemy Panarin was involved in a fight during the National Hockey League’s (NHL) regular season match against the Boston Bruins.
At the end of the second period, Boston forward David Pastrnak made a brute force move that sent Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren into the woodwork. Due to this contact, the New York club player fell on the ice and hit his head on the board, and Panarin stood up for his partner who was fighting with his opponent. As a result, the Russian forward was fined two minutes for rudeness, while Pastrnak received a major disciplinary penalty and was left on the ice for the remainder of the match.
The match ended with Rangers winning in overtime with a score of 2:1. Vincent Trocheck scored the winning goal for the New York club and Panarin assisted his partner.
This victory allowed the Rangers to return to first place in the National Hockey League Eastern Conference. The team has 43 points in 29 matches in the regular season.
