The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) tested Olympic figure skating champion Kamila Valieva for the second time in November 2023. This was reported by TASS.
The 17-year-old skater was tested for the first time by RUSADA in July 2023.
Testing was done three times last year (July, November and December). Valieva continues to be in the testing pool of the International Skating Union (ISU), which constantly conducts doping control on the Russian figure skater.
RUSADA also checked 12 more skaters in November. This list included Yulia Artemyeva, Alexey Bryukhanov, Vladislav Dikidzhi, Ekaterina Chikmareva, Alexey Erokhov, Makar Ignatov, Irina Khavronina, Matvey Yanchenkov, Mark Kondratyuk, David Narizhny, Sofia Muravyova and Daria Sadkova.
RUSADA tested 73 skaters for doping in just 11 months of 2023; the most tested athlete was Adelia Petrosyan, who underwent the procedure five times.
After Valieva won the team competition at the Beijing Olympics, a scandal broke out around Valieva when it was announced that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were detected in a doping test. Despite this, she was allowed to compete in the individual championship and finished fourth.
Valieva’s case is being considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing was held in September, but the court postponed the case to November for the preparation of additional documents. CAS will issue an opinion at the end of January 2024.
Previously Trusova compared the complexity of hockey and figure skating.
