Former CSKA head coach Alexei Berezutsky said that Igor Akinfeev chose Vladislav Torop as his successor after leaving the team. His words are quoted “Sports Express”.
“But there is another important factor: Igor chose his successor himself. Let’s say he was the one pointing the finger. Yes, he also suggests that you actually work with him. Igor, of course, can deny this, but it is he who hopes that Slava will replace him. He will always say this. And tomorrow, a year later, and two years later. But the fact remains a fact,” Berezutsky said.
Akinfeev is a graduate of CSKA. In total, he played more than 750 matches for the red-dark blue team. With the team he became the Russian champion six times, won the national cup seven times and won the UEFA Cup in the 2004/05 season. The goalkeeper is celebrating 20 years since his debut in top-flight football in 2023.
Torop has started three matches in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season and appeared on the field six times in Russian Cup matches.
Previously became famous the most expensive RPL player.
