American boxer Devin Haney won the WBC junior heavyweight title by defeating his compatriot Regis Prograis in the main event of the boxing night in San Francisco.
The fight lasted the full 12 rounds and ended with Haney winning by unanimous decision.
For the undefeated Haney, this victory was the 31st victory in his career. Prograis lost his second 31-game campaign.
Haney is a former undisputed world champion by WBC (2020-2023), WBA Super (2022-present), IBF (2022-present), WBO (2022-present) lightweight champion. He made his professional debut on December 11, 2015, when Haney was 17, with a first-round TKO victory over Mexican Gonzalo Lopez. In the summer of 2023, he was arrested for illegally carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office did not pursue criminal charges.
Prograis is the world champion in the first heavyweight category (WBA 2019; WBC, 2022 – present). He started his professional career with a first-round knockout on April 28, 2012.
