Olympic tennis champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov believes the Russians should go to the 2024 Games in a neutral status “Sports Express”.
“The IOC gives our athletes the opportunity to participate in the Olympics. This is great news. “I believe that we should go to the Olympics with a neutral status,” Kafelnikov said.
On December 8, it was learned that Russians could go to the 2024 Olympics with neutral status. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Russian athletes will be required to sign updated conditions of participation, which include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”. Russian athletes who rank well in their own disciplines will be allowed to compete.
The World Friendship Games are planned to be held in Russia in 2024. It will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg between 15-29 September 2024. This is the first multi-sport competition to include performances in all 25 Summer Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
