Sports commentator and presenter Dmitry Guberniev talked about the recent victory of figure skater Kamila Valieva in the Russian Grand Prix series in Moscow. In an interview with socialbites.ca, she praised herself for continuing her career and developing in many areas, and noted that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has not yet made a decision on her case.
“It seems to me that he hasn’t fully come to his senses yet because there hasn’t been a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport yet. He is amazing, performing and improving in many areas, not just sports. It would be strange to assume that he is completely calm at the moment, considering that the question regarding him and our champion’s medal is still up in the air. He’s worried, I’m worried, all the fans are worried too.
Do I believe he can be found innocent? This is pro-poor speech. The final authority is CAS, the decision is up to it. I’m speculative on this. Someone says: Something must happen and we will be allowed to compete. This is the logic of people who say the word “extreme” instead of the word “end” or “final.” So what, are we all pagans or pilots now? I just laugh at this,” Guberniev said.
The scandal surrounding Valieva broke out after it was revealed that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in a doping test after she won the team competition at the Beijing Olympics. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will issue its opinion by February 2024 at the latest.
Previously Guberniev statedWho does not condemn athletes changing their sports citizenship.
