Former Moscow Spartak coach Oleg Romantsev opposed the transfer of Russian football to Asia “Sports Express”.

“We must try to play there, but not humiliate ourselves. Those who invented sanctions will come to their senses and common sense will prevail. “There is no need to leave Europe,” Romantsev said.

In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations.

Russian clubs have not taken part in European competitions since February 2022, and the Russian national team last played in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The Russian national team missed the Euro 2024 qualifiers, which will be held in Germany in the summer. The current winner of the European Championship is Italy.
