Leonid Fedun, the former owner of the Spartak football club, said that during the construction of the Otkritie Arena he refused to build a roof due to the high cost. Fedun quotes his words “Championship”.

“I once thought it was too expensive for me. At that time, building a roof would double the cost of the stadium and I did not have such funds. They managed without a roof and 45 thousand spectators came to the good matches,” said Fedun.

Last summer, Lukoil company bought 100 percent of the shares of the red-whites, and Leonid Fedun left his post as club president and resigned from the board of directors. He has owned the team since 2004. During this time, the red and whites became champions (2016/17) and won the National Cup (2021/22).

The red-whites are in fourth place in the Russian Premier League (RPL) with 16 points.
