Spartak General Manager Oleg Malyshev reportedly did not rule out organizing a rematch friendly with Azerbaijan’s Neftchi “Sports Express”.
“The date of the match has not been determined yet. As soon as it becomes available, we will inform you immediately. Neftchi and I have very good relations. But at the moment this is not the highest priority,” said Malyshev.
Spartak met with Neftchi on July 18, 2023. The red and whites won the match with a score of 2-0.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
