Former Lokomotiv Moscow football player Dantash Rodolfo said that he could not play in the Russian national team due to diplomatic problems. His words are quoted RIA News.
“During my performance at the Russian Championship, I had the opportunity to join the Russian national team. There were negotiations, but they all ended soon due to some diplomatic problems. “I wanted to play for the Russian national team, but unfortunately it didn’t happen,” Rodolfo said.
Rodolfo played for Lokomotiv from 2007 to 2011. He won the Russian Cup with the team in the 2006/07 season. He later played for Vasco da Gama in his hometown and returned to Russia again in 2015. Rodolfo defended the colors of Akhmat Grozny from 2015 to 2019, after which he ended his professional career.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. From spring 2022, Russian clubs and the national team will play only friendly matches.
