Belarusian Alexey Protas served as one of his assistants. He then scored the Blue Jackets goal himself. With five minutes left in the period, Alexander Ovechkin increased his team’s lead.
In the last period, Ivan Provorov scored a goal, but later with a pass from the same Protas, Hendrix Lapierre increased the difference in the score. Justin Danforth settled the final score with three minutes left in the game.
Ovechkin played in 15 games in the NHL this season and recorded 5 goals and 7 assists. Following the game against the Blue Jackets, Washington extended its winning streak to four consecutive wins. The team is in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
