Former football player of the USSR national team and Spartak Anzor Kavazashvili criticized International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach for calling on other countries to refuse to participate in the Friendship Games. His words are quoted “Match TV”.
“The two-faced Janus Bach is now the political whore of Europe. I welcome the statements of Matytsin and Pozdnyakov that we will organize a perfect competition among the BRICS countries and no one will stop us from doing this,” he said.
The World Friendship Games will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg from 15 to 29 September 2024. This is the first multi-sport competition to include performances in all 25 Summer Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
On February 28, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. In addition, many competitions in which foreign athletes participated were moved from Russia.
