Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim champion Tom Aspinall said after his early victory over Russian Sergei Pavlovich that he dedicated it to his father.
“Sergei is a big and scary man. But I always believed in myself and continue to believe. I dedicate this belt to my father,” Aspinall said in the Octagon after the fight.
The fight was completed at the beginning of the first round. Aspinall knocked out Pavlovich one minute after the start of the fight. Aspinall achieved his 14th victory with three defeats in his career. For Pavlovich, this loss was the second, in total he had 20 fights in MMA.
Both Pavlovich and Aspinall were quickly selected to fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title. In the Absolute Fighting Championship, the competitors each have six wins and one defeat, while the Russians have won six in a row after the initial debacle.
