Sevilla is the second rival Pellegrini has faced the most in his career, with a total of 29 matches. His only positive record is as coach of Manchester City, where he won both of their Champions League group stage matches in 2015. He has lost more times than he has won in Malaga, Villarreal and Betis. In Madrid one won and the other lost.
Naturally, he added his only derby victory as coach of Betis in the Copa del Rey, eliminating the eternal rival in the eighth finals of the 2021-2022 season. Moreover, they eventually won the title, the third in the history of the green and white club in the tournament.
