Villarreal CF today issued a statement announcing the dismissal of José Rojo “Pacheta” as coach of the first team. The coach, who promoted Elche to the First League in the summer of 2020, was able to achieve only two wins in the league with the yellow team, and the results ended his dreams of managing a big team in the top category.

His career at Villarreal CF lasted only two months. The announcement of his departure comes just two days before his former team’s match against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano this Sunday.

Villarreal announced that the training will be led by the club’s director of football, Miguel Ángel Tena. This Saturday (11:00) José Manuel Llaneza will be at the Sports City and will join the press on the eve of the match against Atlético de Madrid (21:00). Tena will also sit on the bench of the “yellow” team in Madrid.

According to the Europa Press agency, Pacheta’s dismissal is the fourth dismissal of a First Division coach in the 2023-24 academic year. After that of Vicente Moreno in Almería; Quique Setién at Villarreal; and José Luis Mendilibar in Seville.
