The Swedish Hockey Federation has banned all national teams from wearing clothing bearing the country’s symbols on international trips V.G..
Abebe Tersleff, head of the hockey federation’s security service, said a similar ban was imposed following an attack on Swedish fans ahead of the European Football Championship qualifying match against Belgium and applied to all national teams without exception.
“We do not have to wear official Swedish team uniform when traveling to and from other countries, but we can wear it on transport and in hotels. We will not take with us anything that could be associated with the visit of the Swedish national team. We have an agreement with the police, we will increase the security presence in connection with the departure of the national teams,” Tersleff concluded.
In the near future the Swedish women’s team will play a sparring match against the Swiss team.
