Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of treating countries differently. His words were quoted Sports24.

“The IOC has made so many mistakes that it is impossible to count. Why this attitude towards Israel? How is Russia different from others? Why did Georgia start military operations in South Ossetia during the Olympics and had nothing to do with it? Why America while the Vietnam War was going on were allowed into all the Games quietly? Do they have such a short memory? And the IOC will finally be able to say who their master is. “Tell us now, everyone understands that this is at someone’s disposal,” Rodnina said.

The IOC has previously said Israeli athletes cannot face discrimination because they are not responsible for the government’s actions.

At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued an appeal to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.

On October 12, the IOC announced the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) until further notice, following the inclusion of the Olympic Councils of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the Russian organization. Additionally, the final decision regarding the admission of Russians to the 2024 Games has not been announced.
