Russian former World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion Radzhab Butaev defeated 2016 Olympic champion Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Gaibnazarov by technical knockout in a tournament held in Sochi. This was reported by the press service of the competition.

Gaibnazarov’s team refused to continue the fight after the third round.

“As you can see, I was ahead from the first lap. Yes, I missed the blows, but I didn’t feel them. I wasn’t surprised when the opponent’s cornerman refused to continue the challenge. I looked into his eyes and saw that he didn’t want to fight anymore.

In fact, I was just starting to work and after a few laps things could have been much worse for him. I saw that he was in pain after the blows I received.

In no case do I want a repeat of the downtime. Still, going through this year and a half without fighting came at a heavy price. Now I want to rest for two weeks and then immediately go to my training camp,” said Butaev.

The co-main event of the boxing night, which took place at the Red Arena in the Krasnaya Polyana gambling area, was the light heavyweight media fight. Timur “Archangel” Nikulin defeated Ibragim “Nikarho” Islamov by technical knockout in the third round. In another media brawl, Gor “Rocky” Tumanyan defeated Andrey “Ushu Master” Efimov by unanimous decision.
