Bulgarian champion biathlete Krasimir Anev was taken out of his coma with medical intervention after being shot in the stomach. This was reported by “Telegram”.
The athlete’s personal trainer, Georgiy Furtunov, said that the Bulgarian athlete is better now and has come to his senses. He added that Anev could not speak because he was intubated, but he responded with gestures. “A lot has happened to him. Both personally and professionally,” the expert added.
On November 1, the biathlete was found with a gunshot wound near the Drenov Dol dam near the city of Kyustendil. He was sent to intensive care in serious condition. According to the police, the biathlete shot himself in the stomach.
Anev is the 2019 European champion in the individual event, as well as a multiple medalist at the European Championships and Universiades. She participated in three Olympic Games in 2014, 2010 and 2018. Anev ended his professional biathlete career at the age of 33 after the 2019/20 season.
