JORGE ALMIRÓN’S STATEMENTS AFTER LOSING THE LAST US FLUMINENSE
- “In many moments in the match we were good, we were better than the rival. The team made a great effort, we played against an opponent who plays very well. We started to press and we came back on the second action because they come out really well, they always do. “They deserved to win, I don’t see why I wouldn’t recognize that they are a great team.”
- “This is football, it is defined by details. There are many matches to analyze, but it is no longer useful now. After losing a final there is a lot of pain, the team has made a lot of merit to reach this final. I took over after Monagas, in Venezuela, and if there was talk at the end of the match that Boca would become finalists, no one would have believed it. So we were rebuilding. Today we don’t see it anymore. everything positive because we lost, but the team has a lot of future. Many young players who had their first final today, it is not easy to play a Copa Libertadores in this stadium, with this rival… They were up to the task. “
- “The feeling is a lot of pain, we will see how everything goes. You always have to get up, it is a very big club. We are sad for the hope that has been raised in the people, a dream has fallen apart today, but this one is going Through.”
- “The team understood that it was a final. They gave up the initiative a little bit, in some actions we went forward and the rival – who plays very well – came up against us a few times and the team fell back. second half we showed the identity that the team showed to reach the final. The first half the team was organized, they didn’t get us beyond the goal. We didn’t have the initiative, but not much had happened. The second half the team was loose, at its peak. “It’s the identity we wanted to show. With the extra man we had it could have been a different outcome, but it came with the eviction. Very sad about the result.”
