Russian hockey player was recognized as the first star of the match in the NHL

On the night of November 3, Moscow time, the regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL) took place between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders. The meeting took place at the Capital One Arena in Washington and ended in victory for the guests with a score of 3:0.

After the results of the match, the Russian goalkeeper of the “islanders” Semyon Varlamov was recognized as the first star. He recorded a shutout, stopping 32 shots.

The second star was the winners’ American striker Brock Nelson (1+1), and the third star was the capital’s Canadian forward Connor McMichael.

Ryan Pulock, Simon Holmstrom and Brock Nelson scored for the Islanders. Russian defender Alexander Romanov finished the match with a +2 utility coefficient.

Washington captain Alexander Ovechkin did not show any effective action and ended the meeting with a -3 usefulness rating.

This NHL season, Ovechkin appeared in nine games in which he scored two goals and six assists. The Russian player played a total of 1,355 matches during his career in the league and scored 824 goals and made 669 assists in these matches.
