Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp criticized France coach Didier Deschamps for calling England defender Ibrahim Konate to the national team. His words are quoted by Footmercato.
“He wasn’t in today’s squad but I absolutely love everything about Konata. The problem is he had a lot of injuries and Deschamps had him play 90 and 87 minutes in the last two games so we rested him. He could be on the field tonight but he still has to play on Sunday … So, Mr. Deschamps, this is how we rest the players, not three minutes. But other than that, we are more than happy with Konate,” said Klopp.
On 26 October, Liverpool defeated French Toulouse (5:1) in the third round match of the Europa League group stage. Konate did not attend this meeting.
