Valery Novikov, former goalkeeper of CSKA and the USSR national team, talked about the problems of the red-blue team on the eve of the team’s match with Krasnodar in the 13th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). In his comment to socialbites.ca, he stated that the team’s performance was low and explained the reason for this.
“The problem with CSKA is that they score very few goals. Chalov seems to be having a good season, he is performing well and showing what he can do. But in almost every match they score few goals and concede goals. This means that in defense something is not going the way we would like. When it comes to execution, they have very few chances, and when they do, players squander those chances.
CSKA will prepare for the match in the most serious way and if the result is positive for the team, they should continue on their way. However, the team needs an aggressive striker who can score goals in every match. In almost every match there are forwards who aim for goals and take advantage of opportunities; but the striker always has one or two chances per game. CSKA no longer has such a striker,” Novikov is convinced.
The match between CSKA and Krasnodar will be played in Moscow on Sunday, October 29 and will start at 19.30 Moscow time. Contestants will be judged by Kirill Levnikov. Currently, Krasnodar is the leader with 28 points, while the army team is in seventh place with 18 points.
