A farewell ceremony for Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova in biathlon and cross-country skiing was held at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery in Moscow. TASS.
The ceremony was attended by Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) President Viktor Maigurov, Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) President Elena Vyalbe, biathletes Sergei Chepikov, Svetlana Ishmuratova, Olga Zaitseva, as well as Reztsova’s relatives.
Three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova died in intensive care before regaining consciousness. The famous biathlete and skier was urgently hospitalized on October 15, her ex-husband and coach Leonid reported. She had previously been hospitalized due to a heart attack and fainting. According to the Mash Telegram channel, Reztsova could have died due to alcohol addiction and depression during the divorce.
Reztsova performed from 1985 to 2000. She became an Olympic champion in ski racing in 1988. In 1992, the Russian woman won the biathlon sprint at the Olympics, and two years later she took first place in the biathlon relay at the Lillehammer Games. Additionally, Anfisa Reztsova is a three-time world champion in cross-country skiing.
