The Russian Football Union (RFU) is reportedly in talks with the Zanzibar Football Federation to host a friendly match “Sports Express”.
In talks on international cooperation, Zanzibar is represented by the Tanzania Football Federation. Tanzania national team players have the right to play for the Zanzibar team.
The meeting is expected to be held in Russia in 2024.
In the spring of 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team, as well as all Russian clubs, in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
During the autumn break, the Russian team held two meetings. The team first defeated Cameroon 1-0 in Moscow, and then drew with Valery Karpin’s team and the Kenyan national team at the Turkish Hotels stadium. The meeting ended with a score of 2:2. The Russian team came back in the 89th minute.
