Former National Hockey League (NHL) referee Tim Peel criticized Russian Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov on his social networks for his penalty shootout.

“I’m sure this will be a hot topic for Colin Campbell (NHL Vice President of Hockey Operations) and Hockey Operations. This is not what we wanted to see when the NHL opened the shootout. Shows like this turn our game into a joke. The next time Kuznetsov does this, the goalkeeper should attack him and tear his head off!” Peel wrote.

Kuznetsov has his own style when shooting – he does it at low speed.

Kuznetsov has been playing for the Capitals since 2014, and before that he played only for Traktor Chelyabinsk. His contract with Washington runs through 2025 with an average salary of $7.8 million per season.

In the current NHL season, the Russian player took part in two of the team’s matches without scoring an effective goal. Washington suffered a defeat and won a victory.
